Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Kafonet ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. Your continued use of Kafonet after any modifications to these terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. About the Service

Kafonet is an independent, community-driven colleague matchmaking service that pairs employees for 1:1 meetings such as coffee chats, lunches, walks, or online calls. The Service is designed to foster connections and build community within your organization.

Kafonet is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially associated with Microsoft Corporation. It is an independent project created by an employee to benefit the internal community.

3. Eligibility

Kafonet is available to individuals with a valid @microsoft.com email address. By signing up, you represent that you are a current employee of Microsoft, that you are at least 18 years of age, and that you are authorized to use your corporate email for this Service.

4. Account & Authentication

You may sign in using LinkedIn, Microsoft Entra ID, or an email magic link. By authenticating through a third-party provider, you grant Kafonet permission to access the basic profile information made available by that provider (typically your name, email address, and profile photo).

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Kafonet is not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized access to your account.

5. How Matching Works

Kafonet periodically runs an automated matching algorithm that pairs active users based on the preferences you set, including office days, preferred meeting types, interests, and team affiliation. When you are matched, both you and your match receive an email notification with a suggested meeting date.

Kafonet facilitates introductions only. The actual meeting — including time, place, and whether it occurs — is arranged between you and your match at your mutual discretion.

6. User Conduct

By using the Service, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and truthful profile information
• Treat your matches with respect, courtesy, and professionalism
• Make a reasonable effort to follow through on suggested meetings
• Use the pause feature if you are temporarily unavailable, rather than ignoring matches
• Refrain from using the Service for any purpose other than professional networking
• Not harass, intimidate, or behave inappropriately toward any other user
• Report any concerns or inappropriate behavior to the Kafonet team promptly

7. Pausing, Deactivation & Deletion

You may pause your account at any time from the Settings page. While paused, you will not be included in matching rounds. You may reactivate your account at any time.

If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at hello@kafonet.com. We will process your request within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8. Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in inappropriate conduct, or if your @microsoft.com email is no longer valid. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

9. Service Availability

Kafonet is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. We do not guarantee a match in every cycle — matching depends on the available pool of active users and preference compatibility. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, branding, logos, and software comprising Kafonet are the property of the Kafonet team and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without prior written consent.

Any profile information you provide remains your own. By providing it, you grant Kafonet a limited, non-exclusive license to use, display, and share that information solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., showing your profile to your match).

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Kafonet and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunities, reputation, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Service — including but not limited to outcomes of meetings arranged through the Service, scheduling conflicts, interpersonal issues, or missed meetings.

Kafonet is a voluntary, community-building tool. Participation is entirely at your own discretion and risk.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify active users via email and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after such notification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Belgrade, Serbia.
